Description	:	Horace Benjamin Ashley, 83, of Griffin Farm Road, widower of Idelle Lowe Ashley, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Richard B. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Turner Frank and Eula Ashley. He was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, where he had served as Deacon, Training Director, Brotherhood Director, and Choir member. He was retired from Riegel Textile Co. Read More	Horace Benjamin Ashley, 83, of Griffin Farm Road, widower of Idelle Lowe Ashley, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Richard B. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Turner Frank and Eula Ashley. He was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, where he had served as Deacon, Training Director, Brotherhood Director, and Choir member. He was retired from Riegel Textile Co. He was Past Master and member of Centre Lodge No. 37 A.F.M. He was a charter member and director of the Craytonville Fire Department and a charter member of the John Thomas Ashley Chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Julia Ashley of Honea Path; one daughter and son-in-law, Junior and Sylvia Lollis of Belton; two sisters, Myrtis Wright of Belton and Gladys Brown of Honea Path; three grandchildren, Rickey Lollis, Joey Lollis and Mary Lin Ashley; and three great-grandchildren, Ashlei Lollis, Eric Lollis and Tyler Lollis. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank Ashley, Floyd Ashley, Richard Ashley, Alvis (Bill) Ashley, and Howard Ashley; and five sisters, Mary Ashley, Myrtle Bratcher, Mable Ashley, Genette Rice and Genevia Ashley. Funeral services will be held at 3pm Tuesday at Mount Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Landrum Reese and Bobby Burris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. The body is at Pruitt Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 2pm Tuesday. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm today. The family is at the home of a daughter, Sylvia Lollis, 721 Mount Bethel School Road. Memorials may be made to the Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Family Life Center.
