Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Blue Grass Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Blue Grass Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Blue Grass Presbyterian Church or Walcott Seniors Citizens Group. Mr. Schroeder was born Dec. 5, 1906, in Blue Grass, the son of Richard and Laura Ewoldt Schroeder. He was married to Mildred Alt Sept. 6 1941, in Davenport. She preceded him in death March 30, 1965. Mr. Schroeder farmed in the Blue Grass area at the family's century farm for 52 years prior to his retirement in 1976. He was a member of Blue Grass Presbyterian Church and Walcott Senior Citizens. He received the first parent of the year award at Iowa State University in 1969. Survivors include five sons, Larry Schroeder and his wife, Jackie, of Muscatine, Kenneth Schroeder and his wife, Kay, of Dubuque, Keith Schroeder and his wife, Michele, of Blue Grass; Bill Schroeder and his wife, Brenda, of Rock Island, Ill., Lynn Schroeder and his wife, Mary, of Ames; three daughters, Cindy Wheeler and her husband, Curt, of Rossmoor, Calif., Janice O'Neel of Ankeny, Carol Mitten and her husband, Jim, of Marlton, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; a brother; and three sisters.
