Mr. and Mrs. Brad Hill are doubly afflicted. Mrs. Hill is at Windom Minn., at the bedside of her dying brother, W. D. Seely, while Mr. Hill this morning received a telegram from Osage bringing the news of the death of his father, H. N. P. Hill who was 89 years of age. Mrs. Hill the wife, died three years ago. She and her husband were married in Boston and lived together happily for 67 years. The children who survive are Bradbury Hill, Ferdinand. D. Hill. Alfred H. Hill; and Mrs. Albert E. Roberts of Osage. H. N. P Hill, Jr, another son, died last March. WAS A PIONEER PRINTER- The aged man was born in Whitefield, N. H., and came to Osage in 1856. In his youth Mr. Hill learned the printer's trade and set type in the office of "The Liberator" edited by William Lloyd Garrison, in Boston. Mr. Hill also worked for Wendell Phillips, and spent many a charming hour under the magic of his eloquence. FREDERICK DOUGLAS BEFRIENDED It was while H. K. P. Hill was setting type in Mr, Garrison's office that a frightened negro, chased by a mob on the streets of Boston, scurried into "The Liberator" office for protection. The colored man brushed past Mr. Hill as he was at work at his case, and cuddled up in a far obscure corner. This proved to be Frederick Douglas, the famous colored orator, who later was honored throughout the nation and who for many years held a responsible position in the treasury department at Washington. William Lloyd Harrison was ever the negro's friend, and the mob-pursued negro lost no time. In seeking his office.
