Description	:	Howard A. Kreutzer, 86, of Amherst, died July 21, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Pastor Duane Duley officiating. Burial will be at the Immanuel Cemetery northwest of Amherst. Military rites at the grave will be provided by the Nebraska National Guard Funeral Honors Team, and the Miller American Legion Post #351. Howard was born July 1, 1927 on a farm between Amherst and Pleasanton to Amo and Freda (Trampe) Kreutzer. He graduated from Amherst High School in 1945. Howard joined the Army on November 30, 1951 and served as a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. He returned from the service in November of 1954. He married Clara Snell on December 12, 1954 in Grand Island. He farmed north of Amherst and also worked at Western Alfalfa for 17 years before retiring in 1997. Howard enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, gardening, and he also loved animals. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. Surviving relatives include his wife Clara of Amherst, NE, sons; Bruce and his wife Cindy Kreutzer of Atlantic, IA, Danny and his wife Debra Kreutzer of Arapahoe, NE, Gary Kreutzer of Beaver Crossing, NE, Kirby and his wife Joan Kreutzer of Kearney, NE, and Mark and his wife Kris Kreutzer of Beaver Crossing, NE, Randy and his wife Brenda Kreutzer of Amherst, NE, Stanley and his wife Tanya Kreutzer of Boone, IA, 20 grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and 3 grandchildren Jacob, Cody, and Nika.
