Casket-bearers were Roger Sumner, Neal Sumner, Scott Sumner, Rick Robinson, Wallace Roth, and George Henle. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. On Nov. 8, 1927, Howard was united in marriage to Emma E. Roth in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. Howard worked for many years as a bridge foreman for Poweshiek County Secondary Roads. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Emma; one daughter, Barbara Sumner of Marion; one sister, Beulah Roth of Brooklyn; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
