Description	:	Howard Cade Goodman was the son of Horace S Goodman and Ella Cade of Seymore, Ill. He was married to Willa Sanders on May 1, 1911. He had 3 brothers and one sister. Brian, Elmer and Hubert and sister Iva Goodman Williams. Howard was out fishing on the Sacrameto River and was drowned. Sept. 23, 1935 Two Drown in Sacramento River Bodies of Butte City men found Howard Cade Goodman, 46 years widley known rancher of the Butte City district, and Aaron Oral Smith, 36 manager of a lumber yeard at Butte City and brother of DD Smith of the Chico office of P. G.and E. Co were drowned Saturday night in the Sacramento river a half mile south of Glenn where they had gone fishing. (Left out some of the long clipping.) The boat was upside down and they believe Howard may have drowned in an attempt to save the life of Smith who could not swim. Smith is survived by the widow Mrs. Helen Wescott Smith and a four year old son Carlton Lee Smith of Butte City, the father Dan Smith of Sacramento, the mother Mrs. Nelvis Smith of Fort Bidwell and two brothers Darrel D. Smith of Chico and Lloyd Smith of Fort Bidwell. Goodman was a native of Bondville, Ill and came to Chico 31 years ago. Surviving are the widow, Mrs Willa Goodman and the mother Mrs. Ella Goodman of Butte City and a sister Mrs. Iva Williams of Rose, Calif., two brothers Brian and Hubert both of Butte City. Burial will be in Chico cemetery. Funeral services for Smith will be in Butte City where interment will be made.
