Description	:	Howard Chandler Christy, son of George S. and Hattie Fredenburg Christy, was born August 17, 1901 on "the Christy Place" near Johnson, Nebraska. He was one of seven children. Read More	Howard Chandler Christy, son of George S. and Hattie Fredenburg Christy, was born August 17, 1901 on "the Christy Place" near Johnson, Nebraska. He was one of seven children. Chan attended the Elm Grove Rural School, graduated from Johnson High School and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture. This year was the 50th anniversary of his graduation. He joined the Brock Christian Church as a youth and remained an active member of this church all of his life. He served as chairman of the board of his church and was at present an elder. June 6, 1933 he was married to Evalyn Gilbert. Chan was to live all of his life in the Johnson-Brock communities where he farmed. Two children, Margaret and Harold, were born to this marriage. Chan took an active part in all community activities. He was Past Master of Trestle Board Lodge No. 162, A.F.&A.M., of Brock; had served four times as Worthy Patron of Trestle Board Chapter No. 67, Order of the Eastern Star, of Brock; was for 29 years the 4-H leader of the Jolly Stock Producers; has for the past nine years been business manager of the Brock Bugle; was Associate Guardian of the Nemaha County Jobs Daughters; and was supervisor of the Johnson County Dairy Herd Improvement Association. On Wednesday of this week, Chan and Evalyn drove to Arkansas City, Kansas to attend the 90th birthday of Mrs. G. G. Gilbert. It was while returning home, soon after midnight on Thursday, July 18, 1974, that he suffered a sudden fatal heart attack in the car at Sabetha, Kansas. He was taken to the Sabetha Hospital but could not be helped. He had reached the age of 72 years, 11 months and 1 day. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Evalyn, of Brock; daughter, Margaret, and her husband, Marion Piper, of Brock; son, Harold, and his wife, Louella, of Fremont, California; ten grandchildren; three siblings, Mrs. Zora Horn of Broken Bow, Floyd Christy of Brock, and Mrs. Gladys Evans of Brock; other relatives, and many, many friends.
