Read More	Morning Sun Men Killed in Auto Crash Gerald W. Kimble, 21, Morning Sun, was killed last Thursday afternoon (April 2, 1964) when the car in which he was riding figured in a three-car accident three miles north of Burlington. Driver of the car, Howard Dean, 27, also of Morning Sun died Monday afternoon (April 6, 1964) in Burlington hospital where he had been treated for multiple rib fractures and head injuries. The driver of one of the other two cars figuring in the accident, Rolla Scheitlin of Mediapolis, was not injured. Driver of the other car, Roger Hand, of Sperry, was hospitalized with severe head injuries but is reported in satisfactory condition. According to the report of the Des Moines County sheriff's office the car driven by Dean, coming north out of Burlington, attempted to pull around the Scheitlin car which had stopped behind another vehicle making a left turn at the Wayne Salvage yard on Highway 61. The Dean car struck the rear of Scheitlin's vehicle and then swerved broadside into the left traffic lane in front of Hand's car. The impact of Hand's car upon the passenger side of Dean's auto completely wrecked the two machines and brought almost instant death to Kimble. Both Kimble and Dean were returning from work at the J. I. Case Company plant in Burlington. Kimble is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Kerr of Morning Sun, his parents, Trevor and Marjorie Walker Kimble, a brother, Trevor, and a sister, Becky, all of this place. Funeral services Monday afternoon were conducted by the Reverend Edward Fish in the First United Presbyterian church. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery. Funeral services for Dean will be conducted by the Reverend A. V. Weigel in the Morning Sun Methodist church at 2 p.m. today (Thursday April 9, 1964). Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 today and will lie in state until time for the services. Howard Clay Dean was the son of Perl and Delta Orwig Dean and was born at Morning Sun on February 1, 1937. On September 4, 1955, he was married to Peggy Boulton of Mount Union. She survives with three sons and one daughter, Danny, David, Jeffery and Pansy, all at home. Also surviving are his parents, two brothers, Roger, Whitmore Lake, Michigan, and Jerry of Des Moines, and three sisters, Dessie, Lila and Carol, Morning Sun. He was a member of the Morning Sun Methodist church.
