He was born July 9, 1930 in Bay City to the late Louis and Margaret (Reinhardt) Heppner. He was a veteran and served his country proudly with the US Army. Read More	Howard passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his home with his family by his side, age 83 years. He was born July 9, 1930 in Bay City to the late Louis and Margaret (Reinhardt) Heppner. He was a veteran and served his country proudly with the US Army. Howard retired from Euclid Block and the Teamsters Union #486. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching and an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions. Surviving is a sister, Marion (Aunt Pat) Barringer, one sister in-law, Irene Heppner who he has lived with for over 39 years. Howard was like a father to 9 children, grandfather to 20 grandchildren, great grandfather to 21 great-grandchildren and had several nieces and nephews. Howard was predeceased by his siblings, Lloyd Heppner, Bertha Kuch, Carl Heppner, Mildred Micho, Louis Heppner Jr., Irene Heppner, Roy Heppner, Edward Heppner and a brother in-law, Walter Barringer. A special thank you to the Teamsters Union Local #486, Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Region 7 Division on Aging, Heatland Homecare and Hospice and Mid-Michigan Gratiot –Alma Rehab Center for the wonderful care that was given to Howard over the years. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 4:00 P.M. from the Squires Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Bassett will officiate followed by military honors by the Bay County Veteran's Council. Private burial will be held at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 Noon until time of service.
