Description	:	Howard F. Foxhoven, 91 of Sioux City, IA died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at a local hospital, from complications following a fall. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial and military graveside rites will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Northside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Howard was born May 2, 1922 in Defiance, IA, the son of John H. and Anna (Kuhl) Foxhoven. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. As a proud veteran, he participated in the Honor Flight Program to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. Howard came to Sioux City in 1958. On Nov. 2, 1973, he married Dorothy M. Harms in Elk Point, SD. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years, retiring on Jan. 1, 1988. Howard returned to work as a courier for Quest Diagnostics for 18 years. Howard was a member of the American Postal Workers Union, the National Association of Postal Supervisors and N.A.R.F.E. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 64 and the Boys of '68. He was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Church, where he served as an usher for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada, where he would return home with many walleyes and stories to share. He also enjoyed spending time having coffee with friends at Hardees. When he wasn't watching NASCAR, he was enjoying the Twins' games or watching golf or any NFL football game on television. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Dorothy; 10 children: Mike Foxhoven of Sioux City, Ruth (Frank) Gries of Sioux City, Jackie (Michael) Altergott of Broomfield, CO, Vicki (Ron) O'Connell of Arvada, CO, Cathy Wright (Curtis Androy) of Sioux City, Jim Foxhoven, John Foxhoven, both of Sioux City, Mary (Randy) McNaughton of Aurora, CO, Sandy and (Ron) Heimgartner of Hinton, IA, Orville and (Areta) Childs of Hermitage, TN; 2 sisters, Helen Knott of Omaha, NE and Leona Leslie of Council Bluffs, IA; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Clarence and Laverne, 3 sisters, Lurene Olson, Elaine Meiner and Alvera Foxhoven, and a son, Rick Osler. Pallbearers will be Danny Cooper, Josh Gries, Scott Johnson, Brian Linafelter, Jerry Kamradt, and Nathan Heimgartner.
