Vavak and the late Anna Liska Vavak, was born April 2, 1931, at Prague. He was educated in the Prague Public Schools and lived in Prague until 1949. On May 15, 1952, he was united in marriage to Leona Koren at Grand Island. Two children were born to this union. He was employed as a television repairman at Homan Appliance for a number of years. He also was a retired fireman, and a member of the Catholic Church. Surviving relatives are his father, Peter M. Vavak of Schuyler; his wife, Leona; two daughters, Rox Anne and Dena; and one stepson, Kenneth Jenkins all at home; two sisters, Delores Havelka of Prague and Evelyn Calek of Omaha; and three brothers, Lester of Prague, Stanley of Grand Island and Peter of Tucson, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, and one uncle.
