Description	:	Funeral services for Howard Harvey Pierson, age 62, of Loveland, Colorado, who died October 25, 2000, in Loveland, Colorado, were held Monday, October 30, 2000, at 10:00 am at the Ritchie Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Mogler officiating. Interment with military rites accorded by the John F. Hardin American Legion Post No. 164 were held in the Memory Cemetery in New Market. Howard Harvey Pierson was born June 13, 1938 to Stanley Earl and Pearl Mary Arthur Pierson in rural Nodaway County southwest of Hopkins, Missouri. Howard was the sixth of seven children born of this union. Howard attended the Church of Christ in New Market and was baptized there as a young man. Howard, his mother, and sister, Helen moved to New Market, Iowa when he was twelve years old. At the age of seventeen he traveled to San Diego where he joined the Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in the United States and abroad. Howard's regiment was one that took part in the atomic bomb testing in Nevada. He was discharged from the Marines in August 1958. Howard has spent most of his adult life driving trucks. He has driven millions of miles across the United States and has earned many safe-driving awards. Many "truck driving" stories were told at the Pierson family reunions as he and his two brothers, who also drove trucks, would tell of their trucking experiences. Howard and his wife Debbie, and her son Anthony have made their home in Loveland, Colorado, for the last 11 years. He loved the mountains and also loved to share them with family and friends. Howard has spent the last two years battling cancer but one would never hear him complain or be bitter about his situation. He still had a sense of humor and would tell his truck driving stories around the kitchen table to all who gathered there. He had a gentle spirit and was always doing something for someone. Howard will be missed by many whose life he has touched in his own special way. Howard went to be with his Lord on October 25, 2000 at his home, with his wife Debbie at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Connie Lynn. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Debbie, his son Scott Pierson and wife Heather of Aberdeen, Washington; stepsons Timothy Goyogana of Burns, Oregon; Aitor Goyogana of Slidell, Louisiana; Anthony Goyogana of Loveland, Colorado; two brothers, Dennis Pierson and wife Mary Ann of Bentonville, Arkansas and Edwin Pierson and wife Jean of Jay, Oklahoma; four sisters, including Mrs Roy (Elsie) Farrell, Mrs Doris McDonald and Donna Person all of Maryville, Missouri, and Mrs Ray (Helen) Davison of rural Gravity, Iowa.
