Ahrenholtz October 21, 1927 - November 29, 2016 Howard Henry Ahrenholtz was born October 21, 1927, the son of Louis and Irene Ahrenholtz. He died Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at his home near Manilla, Iowa, at the age of eighty-nine. Howard was born on a farm near Manilla, Iowa, in Crawford County. He received his education at the Defiance Public School, graduating with the class of 1944, at the age of 16. After completing his education he farmed with his parents and brothers. As his farming operation grew, Howard was also involved with hog confinements and custom wheat harvesting. In the late 70's, Howard, Russell and Randall started the Ahrenholtz Seed Company. On March 7, 1948, Howard was united in marriage to Lois Christiansen. The couple settled on a farm near Defiance, Iowa, and were blessed with the birth of five children. He and his brothers sang for many events throughout the years. He also served as an elder of Zion Lutheran Church of Denison. Howard enjoyed family gatherings, hosting reunions, and traveling with Lois. Howard is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; one daughter, Julia Rosa; two brothers, Harry and Harold; and one sister, Aletha. Survivors include: three sons: Russell and his wife, Marcia; Randall and his wife, Lisa; Eugene and his wife, Sandy ; one daughter, Joni Ahrenholtz ; fifteen grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew, Luke, Zachary, Jessica, Justin, Sara, Brooke, Travis, Amber, Brandon, Briana, Tyler, Devon, and Arielle; eleven great-grandchildren: Emma, Isabella, Cade, Alicia, Ava, Dylan, Zane, Madelyn, Gianna, Raelyn and Amya; one sister, Betty Lou; two brothers; William and his wife, Louise; and Richard; many other relatives and friends. -------------------------
