Description	:	Howard J. Miller, 60, a former electrical contractor in Defiance, died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday in his residence on rt. 4, Defiance, in North Richland tp. He had been ill for some time due to a heart condition and complications, his condition becoming serious the last week. He did electrical contracting here until 1952 and then, because of his health, began operating the Marvel Dry Cleaning establishment on Fifth St. at which he was burned there in an explosion and fire. Miller, 60, a former electrical contractor in Defiance, died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday in his residence on rt. 4, Defiance, in North Richland tp. He had been ill for some time due to a heart condition and complications, his condition becoming serious the last week. He did electrical contracting here until 1952 and then, because of his health, began operating the Marvel Dry Cleaning establishment on Fifth St. at which he was burned there in an explosion and fire. More recently he was a night clerk at the Hotel Henry but the condition of his health made it necessary for him to retire about 8 months ago. On Sept. 15, 1903, he was born in North Richland tp. His parents were John J. and Elizabeth (Baker) Miller. He was married on Dec. 1, 1937 to Katherine C. Hoeffel who survives. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Hal (Marie) Peters, and two granddaughters, Kelley Jean Peters and Karin Jo Peters, all of Mason, Mich. His parents and a brother, Edward J. Miller, preceded him in death. Mr. Miller was a member of St. John United Church of Christ; a past master of Tuendawie Masonic lodge, No. 195 F. and A.M.; a charter life member of the Defiance County Fish and Game Association, and a member of Local No. 8 electricians' union. Friends will be received after ? o'clock tonight in the Stick and Frye Defiance funeral home where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by Dr. L. Harrison Ludwig, St. John United Church of Christ minister. The burial will be in Independence cemetery, east of Defiance. Defiance Crescent-News Obituary
