When his 1st wife, Sarah E (b. 1847) died he went to his Uncle Moses Dubb's in Henderson, Illinois, there he married Hannah on June 16, 1868 in Henderson, Illinois, then they moved back to Burnt Cabins, Pennsylvania where their son was born in August of 1869. In 1879 they went to Iowa , then to California, they finally moved to Ransom, Ness, Kansas where he and his son ran a blacksmith's shop. News, Oct. 11, 1913 HOWARD DUBBS Howard John Dubbs was born June 24, 1844, at Burnt Cabins, Pennsylvania,and died October 16, 1913, at Ransom, having attained the age of 69 years, 3 months and 11 days. On June 16, 1868, he was married to Hannah Sabina Hammond at Henderson,Illinois. To this union was born one child, Ora V. Dubbs, of Ransom. He came to Ransom in the fall of 1879, and his home had been in or near Ransom ever since. He obeyed the gospel November 19, 1898, under the preaching of D.W. Nay,of the church of Christ, and was a consistent member to the time of his death. The funeral service was held at the church of Christ at 2 o'clock p.m.,Tuesday, October 7, 1913, and was conducted by Rev. Laybourn, of the M.E.church, who spoke from the text, "Be not afraid: only believe," and his words were full of consolation and promises to the relatives and friends of the deceased. The floral offerings contributed by the school children and friends were beautiful. Mr. Dubbs being an old and respected citizen of Ness County, a large concourse of friends gathered to pay their last respects to him. The remains were laid to rest in the Ransom Cemetery.
