Description	:	HOWARD JOHN GEIST was born on December 15, 1935 in Roscoe, SD to John and Rebecca (Huber) Geist. His family moved to Lemmon, SD when he was young. Howard grew up and attended school in Lemmon. His mother passed away when he was only nine years old. Howard began driving semi's at the age of only 13 years. He was employed by Corcoran Trucking. Read More	HOWARD JOHN GEIST was born on December 15, 1935 in Roscoe, SD to John and Rebecca (Huber) Geist. His family moved to Lemmon, SD when he was young. Howard grew up and attended school in Lemmon. His mother passed away when he was only nine years old. Howard began driving semi's at the age of only 13 years. He was employed by Corcoran Trucking. Howard served his country and fought in Korea. He later returned to Lemmon and married Carolyn Engle on June 26, 1960 in Lemmon and five children were born to this union, Howie, Becky, Valerie, Veronica and Dusty. He worked at the elevator for Lemmon Equity and also worked for numerous farmers and ranchers in the area. He always seemed to end up in a truck, somehow. Howard enjoyed reading and playing cards. He liked to visit and spend time with his family and friends. Howard and Carolyn were part of the first EMT class for the Lemmon Ambulance and he was also a volunteer fireman in Lemmon. Howard J. Geist passed away at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND on March 26, 2007. He is survived by his children, Howie (Crystal) Geist, Becky (Russ) Nelson, Valerie (Kelly) Pappas, Veronica (Vern) Klein and Dusty (Serenity Pack) Geist, 14 grandchildren, one sister, Wilma (Steve) Oyler and numerous friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rebecca Geist and one grandson, Cassidy Michael Baumeister. Funeral service for Howard J. Geist, 71, of Lemmon, SD will be Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon. Rev. Ken Miller will officiate and burial will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon. Arrangements by Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
