Howard Marcus Grant was born on August 29, 1922, in Passport Township, Ward Country, the son of Robert and Gertrude (Mathews) Grant. He was reared and educated in Tagus, ND. Howard was married to Lois L. Engen on October 27, 1945 in Minot. They made their home in Berthold, N.D. and farmed in the area where they raised small grains. He also drove school bus for the Berthold School district for many years. He retired from farming in 1987, but continued to assist his nephew, Frank, in his farming operation. Lois died January 21, 1988. Howard was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, and also the Eagles Aerie. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Helen Wilhelm, Margaret Hennessy, and Millie Olson; brothers, Robert, and Gordon Grant.
