Long, residents southwest of Claresholm, died in the Claresholm Hospital about eight o'clock last Saturday evening. The cause of death was intestinal obstruction, adhesion from two previous operations contributing to the cause. The young man was born in Columbia, Missouri, and came to Alberta with his parents in the spring of 1909., so that he had spent practically his entire life in the Claresholm district. Twice previously he had required surgical treatment, in 1918 and in 1924, and as stated above, it was largely as a result of these previous occasions that the fatal attack came upon him. He had been working normally on Heyland and Wilhite's threshing outfit until Wednesday when the attack was first felt. On Friday morning he was brought to the Claresholm Hospital for surgical treatment but it was soon discovered that his condition was beyond help. Besides the sorrowing parents he is survived by four brothers: Stanley Boyd Allan Chester. By a strange coincidence brother died on the same date, Sept 15 in the year 1925, and from a similar cause. Deceases was a popular member of a large group of young people and a particularly sad feature in relation to his untimely death was that he was planning to be married in December. The funeral arrangements were under the direction of George W Ringrose. Burial was made in the Claresholm Cemetery. The pallbeares were: Raymond Nowlin; Charlie Davis; Paul and Wesley Lepard; Herbert Schram and William Yorgason.
