Description	:	MR. HOWARD REED, of Cross City, Florida, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at his home after a long illness. He was 72. Mr. Howard was born in Jena, Florida, to Henry and Juanita Reed. He worked for the Dixie County Road Department for the past thirty years, and held the position of superintendent for the past sixteen. Mr. Howard was born in Jena, Florida, to Henry and Juanita Reed. He worked for the Dixie County Road Department for the past thirty years, and held the position of superintendent for the past sixteen. He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Retta Ward Reed, of Cross City, Florida; sons, Thomas Reed (Debra) , of Perry, Florida, Stephen Reed of Steinhatchee, Florida, Kevin Reed of Pensacola, Florida and Dean Swift, of Cross City, Florida; daughtrs, Ann Howard of Live Oak, Florida and Cynthia Boze of Branford, Florida; brothers, Delton Reed of Perry, Florida and Broward Reed of Steinhatchee, Florida; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Faith Baptist Church , with Rev. Jackie Pettrey officiating. Interment followed at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation was held at the funeral home Tuesday, May 10, 2011, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Dixie County Times, Cross City, Florida, Thursday, May 12, 2011, page 7, col. 1.
