Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Providence United Methodist Church. The Rev. Justin Ritter and the Rev. Cooper Stonestreet will officiate. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge of Orangeburg. Howard and two brothers were owners and operators of West Brothers Farm. He was an avid farmer and sold produce at the State Farmers Market for over 75 years. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by siblings Bryan, Gene, Raymond, Heyward and Leon West, Helen Fersner and brother-in-law, Lamar Fersner. Survivors are his wife of 53 years; a daughter, Alice (Ward) Avinger of Holly Hill; a son, Frank (Lisa) West of St. George; grandchildren Abbie West and Trey and Hanks Avinger; a brother, Everett 'Cap' West of the Providence community; and sisters-in-law Norma West, Annette West, Lois West, Gayle West and Marian West.
