Born on November 25, 1913, in Corinne, Utah, he spent the first five years of his life in Corinne. The... Read More	Obituary from The Independent Record 03/24/2000: Howard Taylor Buswell died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at St. Peter's Hospital from congestive heart failure. Born on November 25, 1913, in Corinne, Utah, he spent the first five years of his life in Corinne. Subsequently his family moved to Salt Lake City where he attended public schools, graduating from the University of Utah in 1933 with a degree in business administration. After graduation, Howard moved to Great Falls, Mont. as the assistant district manager of Firestone Tire Co. While in Great Falls, he met Agatha Virginia Arnaud and they married on August 15, 1936. The couple moved to Utah for two years prior to returning to Great Falls, where Howard once again worked as the assistant district manager of Firestone Tire Company. In 1940 Howard and Virginia moved to Helena, when Howard accepted the job as manager of Stewart Homes. In 1942 he was drafted into the duration of World War II. After the war ended, he worked briefly for the U. S. Geological Survey prior to accepting a job with the Montana Highway Department. He worked for the Highway Department for thirty-five years, mostly in the Planning / Survey Department, until his retirement in 1973. His hobbies included Montana history, geology and building. Howard built the two family homes, largely by himself one on 9th Avenue and subsequently on Birdseye road. He rarely discarded anything because he felt that someday he might find a use for it. The last 2 1/2 years of his life were spent at the Waterford on Saddle Drive. Howard was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Agatha Virginia Arnaud Buswell; parents, William Morris Buswell and Louise Rebecca Taylor Buswell; brothers, William James Buswell, Kenneth Buswell, Scott Allen Buswell, Morris Pratt Buswell and Grant Wayne Buswell; and nephew, Dennis Wayne Buswell. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard Scott and Sue Ann Buswell; grandchildren, Erica Susanne Buswell, Stephanie Diane Buswell and Timothy Sean Buswell; sisters-in-law, Betty Buswell of Lacey, Wash., Doris Buswell of Polson, numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses, including Scott and Mary Buswell, Herb and Judy Balzer of Helena. Services will be held at Retz Funeral Home on Saturday March 25, 10 a.m. Internment will follow at sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Retz Funeral Home on Friday March 24, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials be sent to the Holter Museum of Art, Carroll College Advancement Office or charity of donor's choice.
