Friday morning Hub Kelley, who on November 30th of this of this year, will be eighty years' of age, left on the early morning car for Cynthiana, Ky., where he will spend several weeks visiting with relatives in that vicinity and viewing scenes familiar to him as a boy. Eighty years ago Mr. Kelley was born in Harrison County, Ky.....about ten miles east of Cynthiana he lived in that county until he was thirty-six years of age, when he and his family removed to Tipton County located north of Windfall on land owned by John Retherford. In addition to farming the Retherford land Mr. Kelley cleared 200 acres of land in that vicinity which he had leased, cutting from it some of the finest hardwood timber that the county ever produced. Although a man who has undergone much hardship and performed manual labor, Mr. Kelley still possesses a rugged constitution and an unquenchable fire of energy which has characterized him throughout life. Prior to coming to Tipton County, Mr. Kelley was united in marriage in Harrison county, Ky., to Miss Mary Barnes, of that county and they are the parents of four children, all residing in Tipton, Steven, Samuel and Thomas Kelley and Mrs. John Rogers. Mrs. Kelley although getting advanced in years is in good health but did not desire to make the trip to Kentucky with her husband. When he reaches his native home Mr. Kelley intends to visit with three brothers-in-law, Thomas Barnes, a brother of Mrs. Kelley and John Stivers, and Newton Stillwell, who married his sisters. He will visit old familiar scenes and will take a fishing pole and try some of the best holes in the stream he knew as a young man and boy and expects to have a real enjoyable time. Mr. Kelley and his wife, who are great grandparents make their home with their son, Thomas on North Main street this city, having been residents of Tipton, IN for a number of years.
