Description	:	Hubert Harrison Wise, son of Owen and Catherine Barnard Wise, was born in Cedar County, Iowa July 6, 1876, and passed to his eternal reward in a hospital in California Sept 17, 1960, at the age of 84 years, two months and 11 days. He was united in marriage to Ethel Elzira Wineinger Oct 16, 1903, at Bedford, Ia, which resulted in a happy companionship lasting almost 57 years. There was born to this union one son, Wyman Wineinger Wise, who with his wife Helen have cared for his parents in their Glendale, Calif, home since in December, 1959. There was born to this union one son, Wyman Wineinger Wise, who with his wife Helen have cared for his parents in their Glendale, Calif, home since in December, 1959. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He was the last of the Owen Wise family. Those surviving him besides his son Wyman and daughter-in-law Helen are many nieces and nephews and host of friends and brethren in Christ. Hubert farmed during his early life. After selling out he took a course in watch making at the Elgin Company at Elgin, Ill, after which he conducted a jewelry store in New Market, Ia, then one in Diagonal, Ia. On selling the store he again engaged in farming at Grinnell, Ia. From Grinnell he moved to Enon, Mo, where he again engaged in farming. In 1935 he was injured in an automobile accident which made it impossible for him to continue farming. On selling the farm he moved to Braddyville, Ia, where he engaged in business. On retiring he moved back to his hometown of New Market where they resided until Dec 6, 1959, at which time they moved to California to be near their son. Hubert united with the Church of Christ at New Market in early manhood and lived a devoted Christian life until his passing. He was a devoted husband and father, and was a man of high ideals. Through his example as a Christian he will continue to live in the lives of those who knew him best. Funeral services were conducted from the New Market Church of Christ at 2 pm Friday, Sept 23, 1960, with Clarence Potter in charge, assisted by I.E. Stickelman. A quartet composed of Mrs Robert Malcom, Inez Jo Depew, Harry StoUt and I.E. Stickleman sang "Land Where We Never Grow Old," and "Shall We Gather at the River." Pianist was Mrs Phil Hardee. Casket bearers who carried him to his final resting place in Old Memory Cemetery were Leslie Falk, Charles Depew, Jesse Brown, Alvin Karg, Robert Malcom and Dell Damewood. Walker Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
