Read More	Hubert Hatch was born at Spellings in Henderson County, but lived and died in Carroll County most his life. In 1917 he lived at Friendship in Crockett County. Hubert Hatch's full name is not known. Hubert could have been his middle name. Several of his siblings went by their middle names. His marriage license has Hubie Hatch. He was Hube Hatch to some. He signed as Hubert Hatch. His wife said they were married in a buggy behind Mt. Comfort Church by Chesley King, the pastor. That may be the reason Chesley King stated on the marriage license that he married them at his home as they were not married in the church. They were married on a Sunday. Chesley King was married to Sarah Hatch, Hubert's aunt. Hubert Hatch joined the Baptist Church at age 13. At the time of his death, his family attended Mt. Comfort Baptist Church, the second oldest church in Carroll County. His daughter recalled him holding her while he lead the singing. He made a living as farmer. His death certificate says he died of typhoid fever. However his sister, Ora Kirk, believed he died from internal injuries. She said he was riding a mule in a new field (a field cleared of trees with only stumps and stubs remaining). He was bucked and his foot caught in the stirrup when he fell. The mule dragged him. He was sore and bedridden and could not get up for a week. He was sick with fever and was passing blood. Ora said that she and Eva tended to him. Ora returned home and told her parents about Hubert's condition. They sent for a doctor. Ora said the doctor came and was drunk. The doctor said Hubert had typhoid fever. He didn't try to help. He just let Hubert die. The doctor even fell asleep by the fireplace. Hubert died in the evening. His father and mother were there. He was a healthy man before he had the accident. Orlen Hatch said his father was dragged over a bridge. His daughter, Milber, remembered her father telling her "mind your mother" before dying. He died on a Tuesday and was buried the following day. He was well thought of in the community.
