Description	:	HAZEN — Hubert V. Sailer, 80, Hazen, passed away Jan. 24, 2010, at Sakakawea Medical Center Hospice, Hazen. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST today, Jan. 28, 2010, at Salem United Methodist Church, Hazen, with the Revs. Steve Behrens and Dave Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Hazen City Cemetery. Hubert was born Sept. 20, 1929, north of Hazen, to Gottlieb and Emma (Erbele) Sailer. He attended Elm Grove Country School and graduated from Hazen High School in 1947. His record time for the 100-yard dash stood until the mid 1970s. He married Audrey Stetson on Nov. 24, 1956, at Salem United Methodist Church. Hubert taught at Giesinger Country School for two years north of Hazen and then served as janitor at the Hazen Public School. He began work at the Leland Olds generating plant in 1965, as a general laborer and retired as an operations supervisor in 1992. Hubert served on the Hazen school board for 24 years. Hubert owned and operated Hazen Welding and Machine Shop for many years. He farmed part-time south of Hazen where he maintained his farm machinery — primarily haying equipment — until January 2009. Hubert was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church and served in various positions. He faithfully assisted in preparing the monthly men's prayer breakfasts and could usually be found after the weekly Sunday service serving fellowship coffee and cookies. He is survived by wife, Audrey, Hazen; his daughter, Sharon (Sailer) Schmidt, Ardoch; his granddaughters, Victoria (Schmidt) Roise, Fargo, Suzanne (Schmidt) Irwin, Grand Forks, and Emily (Schmidt) Frelich, Grand Forks; his great-grandchildren, Alesis, Jason and twins Aiva and Luke Roise. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ardella Sailer who died at age 2; and his brother, Leavard. (Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)
