Description	:	Hugh Adam Williams was born 24 July 1851 in South Carolina. He was the son of Hugh Ransome Williams born 18 November 1831 in South Carolina, died 19 July 1892 in Melrose, Alachua or Putnam Counties, Florida and Thomas Ann Wells Williams. She was born 5 February 1833 in South Carolina, died 4 September 1896 in Florida. Do not know where they are buried. Hugh Adam Williams' parents first appeared in Florida on the 1860 census with his wife and five children including Hugh who was 6 years old. The census was taken on the 13 June 1860. Hugh Ransome Williams's occupation was shown as a Farmer. Hugh Adam Williams was listed on the 1870 Columbia County, Florida census age 17 at school. Much time has been spent looking for Hugh Adam Williams on the 1880 United Federal census, however, at this time have not been able to find him. The 1900 United States Federal census dated 20 June 1900 for Waldo, Alachua County, Florida he was listed as a Merchant. His wife Theodosia T. (unknown maiden name) Williams age 48 was born in South Carolina. The census showed that Theodosia had 3 children and 2 living. Theodosia T. first married Owen Carpenter in South Carolina about 1867 – 1868. Owen was born about 1845 in South Carolina. No further information is known of Owen. Theodosia and Owen Carpenter had three children. 1. Effie Carpenter was born 15 October 1868 in Edgefield County, South Carolina. Effie married first Thomas Caswell Manning on the 9 March 1897 the place of marriage is unknown. Thomas Caswell Manning died the 6 July 1902 in Waldo, Alachua County, Florida. He is buried in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Waldo. Thomas and Effie Manning had two children: 1. Thomas Caswell Manning was born 21 July 1898 in Florida; died 2 August 1982 in Palm Beach County, Florida. Do not know if he was married as of 17 February 2011. 2. Marguerite Manning was born 6 June 1902 in Florida. She married Thomas Jackson Barns about 1924. Thomas was born 21 December 1895 in Florida and died 21 February 1997 in Pinellas County, Florida. Marguerite Manning, died the 23 June 1994 in Pinellas County, Florida. Do not, at this time, know where Marguerite and Thomas are buried. Thomas and Marguerite Barns had one daughter, Barbara Ann Barns born about 1931 in Florida. No further information at this time. After Thomas Caswell Manning died, Effie married J. J. Gentry on the 25 October 1906. Place of marriage is unknown. So sad to say Effie died on the 4 October 1907 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The cause of her death is not known. Effie is buried in the Laurel Grave Cemetery in Waldo, Alachua County, Florida, under the name of Effie Carpenter Gentry. The children of Effie and Thomas Manning, Thomas and Marguerite Manning were raised by their grandmother, Theodosia T. Carpenter Williams and Theodosia's second husband Hugh Adam Williams. Hugh Adam Williams' wife, Theodosia T. Williams died 10 December 1911 in Waldo, Alachua County, Florida. They both are buried in the Laurel Grove Cemetery. After the death of Hugh's wife, Theodosia, he married Marion Louise McNeill, date and place of marriage unknown at the time. Marion was born 14 September 1881 in Cumberland County, North Carolina. She died in April 1963 in Bradford County, Florida. They are buried in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Waldo, Alachua County, Florida. Hugh and Marion Williams had two identical twin daughters: 1. Helen Williams, was born 28 February 1919 in Waldo, Alachua County, Florida. 2. Marion Louise Williams, was born 28 February 1919 in Waldo, Alachua County, Florida. Marion married William Robert Monroe, date and place unknown. William was born 24 September 1890 in Texas, and died 29 February 1976 in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida. Do not know where he is buried. Marion Louise and William Robert Monroe had one daughter, Minnie Irene Monroe. Hugh Adams Williams died in 1925 in Waldo, Alachua County, Florida.
