Mr. Haynie, son of the late James Patrick and Mary Annie Haynie, had been a resident of Greenville for the last 40 years. He was a 1950 graduate of Clemson University and completed some graduate work at Mass Institute of Technology. From 1950-1952, Mr. Haynie served in the United States Army with the 67th Medium Tank Battalion and continued his military requirements until 1959. He worked as a Textile Engineer for Celeanese Corp. from 1954 until 1964 and for E.I. DuPont in Delaware until 1968. In 1968, he created H.A. Hayne Co., a fiber recycling and processing company, where he worked until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of The Memorial Baptist Church, University City Kiwanis Club where he was past president, former Board member of the Salvation Army, the Brook Valley Country Club and the McDonald's Coffee Club. Mr. Haynie was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing golf, especially at his home course. He was a lover of music, especially the bagpipes, and he established a music scholarship at ECU in his grandmother's honor. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haynie was preceded in death by a brother, John Louis Haynie and a sister, Jean Frances Harbuck. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dellaree Johnson "Dot" Haynie; daughters, Dell H. Klepikova, of Greenville, Melinda H. Crouch and husband, Lee, of Wilmington, Susan Haynie, of Gaithersburg, Md., and Dianne H. Law and husband, Richard, of Greenville; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Bill Haynie and wife, Sharon, of Summerville, S.C.; sisters, Ann Green and husband, Peter, of Ellicot City, Md., and Jimmie McGaw and husband, Mack, of Anderson, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
