He was brought to Davenport for treatment at the hospital on Wednesday morning and gradually failed till the end came. He was born in Ireland, March 16, 1849, and came to Clinton county when he was seven years old, accompanied by his parents. In early manhood he was a farmer, but has been in retirement for a number of years. Mrs. Cannon preceded him in death in 1920. He was a life-long member of St. Joseph’s Catholic church of DeWitt. Mr. Cannon was highly esteemed by his friends, of whom he had a great many both at DeWitt and in Davenport for his genial disposition. Surviving are five sons and three daughters: Hugh and James of Davenport, and Dennis, John and William of DeWitt, and Mrs. Peter Cavanaugh of Redfield, S.D., Mrs. Gus Schultz of Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Henry Dunnick of Peoria, Ill. One brother, John Cannon of Jamaica, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. Dennis McDevitt of Perry, Iowa, also survive. The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home, where friends may view it until Saturday afternoon, at which time it will be shipped to the family home at DeWitt, where the funeral will be held Monday morning with services at St. Joseph’s church, DeWitt, at 9 o’clock. Rev. J.J. Nelson will celebrate a solemn requiem high mass. Interment will be made in DeWitt cemetery. _______________________________________________________ Davenport Democrat and Leader; Davenport, Scott, Iowa; Sunday, March 12, 1922 The Cannon Funeral The body of Hugh Cannon was removed from the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home to DeWitt on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 over the Milwaukee railway. Services will be held at 9 o’clock Monday morning at St. Joseph’s church where Rev. J.J.
