Harrigan died at the home of his daughter, where he had lived for the past six years, at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday. Although he had been in failing health for the past five years, he had been active until the time of his death. The body was taken from Coffeyville to Scammon Tuesday night. The Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight in the Naylor-Quinn Funeral Home in Scammon. Born August 5, 1856, in Ayshire, Scotland, at the age of nine he came to this country with his parents, sho settled in Hickory Corners, Pa. He lived there until he was 23 years old, when he was married to Miss Ann McCormick at Hickory Corners on May 1, 1879. They came to Kansas as bride and groom and settled near Scammon in the Pittsburg vicinity. Mrs. Harrigan died Nov. 25, 1938. He was employed in the coal mines in that vicinity until retiring at the age of 65. He then moved to a farm, located 2 and ½ miles west of Scammon, where he lived until moving to Coffeyville to make his home with his daughter. Harrigan was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church at Scammon. Besides his daughter here, he is survived by four other daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Carlson, Cherokee; Mrs. Mary Grace Nevins, St. Louis; Mrs. Blanche Elaine Graves, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs Loretta Wright, Los Angeles; two sons, Leo Harrigan, Scammon, and Joseph A. Harrigan, now in Casablanca, Africa; 17 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, six sons preceded him in death. Hugh was the son of Daniel Harrigan and Elizabeth Woods.
