Daniells, 55, chief of the educational and training section for the Veterans' Administration at Fort Harrison, died last night at his home, 122 Hollins. He formerly resided in Thompson Falls. He was born at Kansas City, Mo., June 12, 1896, the son of the late Merton and Maude Daniells and was orphaned at an early age. He resided for many years with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Harris of Thompson Falls, and graduated from high school at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. After attending Oregon State college for two years, he inter rupted his education to enlist in the army at Boise, Idaho, serving in France from 1917 to 1919 as a wagoner in battery D, 146th field artillery. Following his discharge from service, he was a heavy equipment operator for county and govern ment agencies and worked in cop per, silver and gold mines in cen tral and western Montana as a shift boss aud instructor. Mr. Daniells became county manager and junior interviewer for the Sanders county employment office in 1936 and successively held the positions of senior interviewer for the U. S. employment service and Missoula and assistant field representative in the Helena office, coming here in October, 1942. In April, 1945, he joined the Veterans Administration as a junior training officer and was promoted to senior training officer in 1946. He became head of the education and training section on July 11, 1948. Surviving in addition to his aunt and uncle, are his wife, Ruby, whom he married at Thompson Falls on July 6, 1929; a four-year- old son, Joel Keith, and a sister, Mrs. Blanche D. Lemon of Denver. He was a menber of Helena lodge No. 3, AF&AM, serving as chaplain in 1949, and was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Helena consistory of the Scottish Rite, and a member of the American Legion.
