Description	:	Hugh was the son of Hugh and Drucilla Thomas Coker and was born near Cheraw, SC. The Florida Times reported the following obituary on August 13, 1929: "Death Strikes Twice in Few Minutes to Take Aged Pair" "The grim reaper struck twice within a few minutes yesterday to take the lives of Mrs. Julia E. Coker, 64, at her home, 1521 Walnut street, and that of her husband, Hugh Walter Coker, 84, in West Florida. At 1:50 0"clock yesterday afternoon the death of Mrs. Coker occurred following an extended illness and before the hands of the clock... Coker, 64, at her home, 1521 Walnut street, and that of her husband, Hugh Walter Coker, 84, in West Florida. At 1:50 0"clock yesterday afternoon the death of Mrs. Coker occurred following an extended illness and before the hands of the clock had reached the hour of 2 word was received of the death of her husband in West Florida which came after an illness of but a few weeks. Mrs. Coker had been ill for the past few years but had only been confined to her home for the past (two lines of text are illegible) ... took a turn for the worst. Mr. and Mrs. Coker had been residents of this city for the past twenty-two years and have scores of friends throughout this section who will learn with regret of their passing. Mr. Coker was connected with the Southern railway for the past twenty years and was a member of (?) Solomon Lodge No. 20. F & A. M. They were members of the Calvary Baptist Church. The body of Mr. Coker will be brought to Jacksonville and double funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Hardage & Williams funeral home 517 Park street, at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Coker are survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harris and Mrs. R. H. Rawson of this city and three sons, Thomas Coker, Chicago (next two lines of text are illegible) ... bia, S.C. and one granddaughter Mrs, Virginia Moody Lloyd of this city."
