Hilda Adler, the oldest of 10 children, was born Hulda Stuber on Oct. 8, 1906, in Tarutino, Bessarabia, Russia the daughter of Johoan and Pauline (Heim) Stuber. She was baptized at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tarutino. Her father died in 1910 in Tarutino and soon after, on Aug. 14, 1911, her mother came to America aboard the ship, George Washington. Hilda's mother married Jacob Kitzmann in North Dakota and Hilda was raised on a farm near Heil. On June 20, 1926, she married Rudolph Netzer. They later moved to a farm south of Morristown, S.D. There they raised three children, Victor Rueben, Erma Alice and Alvin Rudolph Netzer. Rudolph died on Oct. 18, 1956. Hilda left the farm and traveled for several years until she married Jake Adler on Aug. 20, 1961, in Carson. They resided in Bismarck for 30 years. Jake died in March 1992 in Bismarck. Hilda lived at the Kensington for a few years before moving to Florida to live with her son in 1996. Hilda was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Hilda is survived by one stepsister, Elizabeth Bender, South Dakota; two sons and daughters-in-law, Victor Netzer and Ella Netzer Herda, Bismarck, and Alvin and Alberta Netzer, Titusville, Fla.; one daughter, Erma Gehring, Bismarck; four stepchildren, Doris Halwegner, Crag, Colo., Kenneth Adler, California, Cheryl Uttke, Bismarck, and Loney Adler, Hazen; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and seven brothers. Memorial are preferred to Faith Lutheran Memorial Fund.
