They moved here from... Read More	DEATH OF MRS. H. J. RIDINGS. Hulda Jane Ridings died at home in the north part of Shelbina at an early hour last Saturday morning. Two weeks ago Sunday, helping her son to stable an unruly mule, she was kicked in the abdomen and severely injured. Under careful nursing she improved and seemed to be much better. She talked being able to be up Sunday but a change for the worse carried off. She was 66 years of, age at time of her death and the widow Wm. Ridings, who died in Shelbina four years ago. They moved here from Union Chapel neighborhood and there her remains were taken and laid beside the grave of her husband. Ridings is survived by two sons, Granville and Major, who live of Shelbina. They wished their mother to make her home with them, but she preferred to live at her place here. The strongest testimonial to her and loveable character is that she is known to many by the title of "Mammy," one man stating that he called her this since his boyhood because she reminded him so of his own mother. She was and consistent member of the church, a kindly cheerful woman, loved by her neighbors and friends. Ridings died at her home in Northwest Shelbina at an early hour Saturday morning. Death came as a result of injuries received by being kicked by a mule Sunday, August 29. She was assisting her son, Major, to get the mules in the barn when one of them, which had gone in the barn, made a dash for liberty. As it passed Mrs. Ridings, who was near the barn door, the animal kicked, striking her in the lower abdomen and groin. Although her injuries were considered serious, she appeared to be recovering and sat up for a short time on Friday before her death. That night, however, there was a sudden relapse and death resulted from heart failure. Deceased was the widow of William Ridings, who died about 4 years ago. Her maiden name was Ridgeway [sic], she being a sister of Joseph and George Ridgeway [sic], who live in the vicinity of Maud. She was born July 12, 1843, and died at the age of 66 years 1 month and 29 days. She was a member of the M. E. Church at Union Chapel, south of Clarence, and lived and died in the faith. Two children survive: William M., who resided with his mother, and Granville, a prosperous farmer, living northeast of town. A daughter died in infancy. Mrs. Richard Cadwell was taken into the family when quite small and reared by Mr. and Mrs. Ridings, though never formally adopted as a daughter. Funeral services were held at Union Chapel Sunday conducted by the pastor and the body laid to rest along side the grave of her husband.
