Read More	Plot: Sec D Blk 1 Lot 4 Grv 3 ----- Hulda Natalie Paulson, the daughter of August and Petronella (Hanson) Paulson, was born November 30, 1889, in East Sioux Falls, SD. She was one of 10 children. The family moved to a farm near Garretson in her early years. As she grew up she helped with the chores by ploughing with a walking plough, shocking grain, stacking hay and picking corn by hand. Because of harsh weather, farm chores and poor transportation she attended school sporadically. At the age of 17, she was united in marriage with Elmer Olson on October 30, 1907, in Valley Springs, SD. The couple moved to a 160 acre farm north of Beaver Valley Church. They grew corn and oats and raised hogs, cattle and chickens. Her five children were all born at home. In 1942 her eldest son, Alolphus, died. Four short years later in 1946, her husband, Elmer died. She stayed on the farm until her youngest daughter, LaVonne, was married in 1955. She then moved between her daughters' homes, helping with their children until they were grown up. She then moved in with elderly "Miss Adeline Jenny". She cared for the frail woman for about a year, before moving to an apartment in Valley Springs. She enjoyed filling her days with braiding rugs from nylons and pantyhose. She also loved to piece quilts to be given away. In addition, she enjoyed embroidering. She moved into Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN on July 19, 1991. She enjoyed folding towels and washcloths with the staff which she did up until the day before she died. Hulda was an active member of Beaver Valley Lutheran Church for many years, which included ladies aide, mission relief and ladies circle groups. Hulda loved life and all the people in her life and she prayed for them all every day. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, David Olson and his wife Alta, Valley Springs, SD; 2 daughters, Mrs. Iona Hanson, Valley Springs, SD, LaVonne Johnson and her husband, Delmar, Beresford, SD; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Doris Olson, Brandon, SD; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 sons, Adolphus and Norman; son-in-law, Dean Hanson; her parents; and 9 brothers and sisters.
