Her last husband, William H. Budd, a Sioux City member of the soldiers' home, died at the home hospital Saturday of cancer, at the age of 75. Incidentally the home authoritie are wondering how Mrs. Budd can be placed beside her husbands in the home cemetery, providing she reenters the home and dies... Read More	Waterloo Evening Courier 12 Nov 1917 She Has Outlived Four Husbands; Has Asked to Be Buried Beside Each Marshalltown, Iowa - Outliving her fourth husband at the age of 77, Mrs. Hulda Stewart-Davis-Minkler-Budd of Central City, a former member of the Iowa soldiers' home, finds herself again a widow. Her last husband, William H. Budd, a Sioux City member of the soldiers' home, died at the home hospital Saturday of cancer, at the age of 75. Incidentally the home authoritie are wondering how Mrs. Budd can be placed beside her husbands in the home cemetery, providing she reenters the home and dies here. All the husbands were former home members, and all are buried side by side. Mrs. Budd's first husband was Charles M. Stewart of Gilman, Ia., who died at the home July 5, 1906. A few years later his widow married W. A. Davis of Woodbine, a member of the home, and he died Jan. 13, 1910. Then Mrs. Davis became the wife of George W. Minkler, a Central City member of the home, who died here, Nov. 24. 1914. The following April the Sioux City veteran and Mrs. Minkler were married. When Stewart died instructions were given by his widow to save a place next to his grave and when Davis and Minkler died similar requests were made. Now that Budd is dead there is no more room for an entry to be made on the same lot. Budd was a veteran of Company K. Thirty-first Iowa Infantry. He entered the home in 1909.
