IDA BLACKWOOD Mrs. Ida Blackwood of Ottumwa, who came to visit her daughters, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Art VanKlaveren, Friday after a short illness. Ida Belle Chambers was born at Pella, Iowa, on January 16, 1868, and passed away February 18, 1921, aged 53 years, 1 month and 2 days. She was united in marriage to John Blackwood on March 3, 1886 in Newton, Iowa. With the exception of about eight years their married life was spent near Eddyville. To this union were born eleven children: Mrs. Art VanKlaveren, Mrs. Mary Stanton, Mrs. Hazel Emanuel, deceased. Mrs. Esther Kline, Mrs. Anna Simmers, Roy, John, George, Clarence and Robert Blackwood and one child who died in infancy. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in early life to which she remained faithful. Her husband preceded her in death several years ago. She leaves to mourn their loss besides her children, twenty grandchildren, two half-brothers, Sylvanus Shahan of Lynnville and Lon Shahan of New Sharon. The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2 p. m., from the Methodist Episcopal church, Rev. E.S. Hehner, the local pastor, officiating. Interment was made in Highland cemetery.
