Austin, who passed away February 24, 1951, in the St. Anthony hospital at Carroll following a lingering illness. The officiating clergyman, the Rev. J. B. Pooley pastor of the First Methodist church, was assisted with the services by the Rev. Paul Textor, pastor of the Methodist church at Letts. Mrs. Roswell Jordan and Mrs. Delbert Ford sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Shall We Gather at the River", accompanied at the piano by Mrs. V. E. Hazelhoff. Casketbearers were O. J. Oliver, Wayne Textor, C. E. Johnson, Delos Annear, Milo Dailey jr. and M. R. Wait. Interment was in the Coon Rapids Cemetery. Ida B. Austin, daughter of John and Mary Walker, was born July 25, 1865, in Johnson county, Iowa, and passed away February 24 at the St. Anthony hospital in Carroll. Mrs. Austin, 85, has been in failing health since April 1950, after which time she resided with her daughter, Mrs. Fred George. She spent her childhood days in Harrison County with her parents, until the time of her marriage to D. W. Austin of Neola. She and her husband lived in Neola until 1914 at which time they moved to Coon Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Ralph. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Fred George; two sons, Wm. Austin of Oakland, California and Lee Austin of Rock Rapids, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Spence of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Austin was a member of the Eastern Star and would have been a 50-year member had she lived until March 21st. Her Golden Rule was an immaculate home. Contributor: Cammy Brandt (49347870) •
