Hagemann, long time resident of this community, lost her life in a one car accident four miles north of Holyoke on Highway 385 at about 9:55 p.m. Sunday, July 11. Mrs. Hagemann, 71, was a passenger in a 1964 Buick driven by Mrs. Paul Groshans, also of Holyoke. According to Patrolman Dean Lakey, investigating officer, Mrs. Groshans was traveling south during a heavy rainstorm. The car skidded off the road, and upon impact with the dirt embankment, Mrs. Hagemann was thrown from the vehicle. The car, which did not overturn, came to a stop in the borrow pit. Mrs. Hagemann was pronounced dead upon arrival at the local hospital. The ladies were enroute home from a week's visit with relatives in Wyoming. Mrs. Groshans was admitted to the hospital where she received treatment for shock. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. yesterday at the Holyoke Baptist church, with Rev. Roland Reed officiating. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. The Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Ida Belle Walls was born on May 19, 1894 at Evansville, Washington County, Arkansas, where she grew to womanhood. She attended schools in Washington and Crawford Counties in Arkansas and taught school several years in that state. She moved to Holyoke with her parents in January, 1917, and taught school in what was known as Hilltop and the Morning View districts. On May 8, 1918, she was united in marriage to John Hagemann. After an extensive honeymoon trip they settled on the farm northwest of Holyoke and reared three sons. Mrs. Hagemann continued to live on the farm with her son, Floyd, after Mr. Hagemann's death in 1952 and moved to Holyoke in 1958 where she had since resided. Mrs. Hagemann was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Walls. She was converted at the home of her parents in 1911 and was a member of the local Baptist church in later years. Surviving are three sons and their families, Fred C. and his wife, Charla, and children Joel and Lila Lea, of Holyoke, Leonard D., his wife Beverly, and daughter, Linda, of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Floyd and his wife, Sandra, and children, Albert, Laura, Michael and Daniel of Douglas, Wyoming, and Neil Brian of Holyoke; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Flieger and Mrs. Sarah Osborn of Denver; three brothers, John and Felix Walls, Denver and Frank Walls, Yakima, Washington, and many other relatives and friends.
