Description	:	Ida Petersen Christensen, daughter of Simon and Carrie Petersen was born January 8, 1871 in Racine, Wisconsin. She died February 6, 1955 in the Danish Baptist Memorial Home at the age of 84 years and 27 days. At the age of two years (1873) she came to Harlan, Iowa with her parents. Read More	Ida Petersen Christensen, daughter of Simon and Carrie Petersen was born January 8, 1871 in Racine, Wisconsin. She died February 6, 1955 in the Danish Baptist Memorial Home at the age of 84 years and 27 days. At the age of two years (1873) she came to Harlan, Iowa with her parents. In this community she received her early schooling and grew to young womanhood. Having her education in Harlan, she attended and graduated from the Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. For nineteen years, she taught school in Boise, Idaho. On June 14, 1923 she was united in marriage to Morinus Christensen of Harlan, where the couple made their home until 1935 when Mr Christensen passed away. Mrs Christensen has been a devout and faithful Christian, giving of her time and talents in the service of the Lord, first in the First Baptist Church of Harlan, and later in the Bethel Baptist church where she was a member at the time of her death. She served as assistant Sunday School superintendent and for a number of years she taught the Bible Class at Bethel. She was also an active member of the Farther Lights and of the Ladies Aid. She is survived by two brothers, Dr. J.J. Petersen of Omaha, and Elton Petersen of Harlan; also two sisters, Mrs Ed Chaney of Topeka, Kans. and Mrs George Gillette of Harlan. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Pauley funeral home with the Rev. S.P. Andersen and the Rev. A. H. Nelson in charge. Pallbearers were Bob Welch, James jensen, Chris W. Nelson, John Kvamme, Carl Norgaard and Martin Arentsen. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery. The Harlan News Advertiser Harlan, Iowa February 15, 1955
