An unusual record for a week, the like of which never occurred in the history of the church and probably not for years to come will it occur again, was made the past week in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. Four publications of matrimony were made at one mass, the name of three of the grooms being Paul, and the name of the bride-to-be of the fourth couple Pauline. Two of the Pauls were married at a double wedding, and the other Paul's wedding was followed by a funeral. Pauline is to be married Tuesday morning and her sister the evening before. On Sunday of last week at the 10 o'clock mass, the banns between Paul Topper, of Bonneauville, and Miss Alice Orendorff, Emmitsburg; Paul Humerick and Miss Ida Brawner, Paul Keepers and Miss Regina Humerick and Martin Stouter and Miss Pauline Bollinger, all of Emmitsburg, were announced. Even four publications at one time is a rare occurrence in a small town parish and even more singular is the fact that four of the names are alike. On Tuesday morning, the Topper-Orendorff wedding was followed by the funeral of Mrs. John Little. In order to give the sexton time to change the decorations of the altar from a wedding to a funeral, the latter had to be postponed half and hour from schedule. The other two Pauls were married at a double wedding at 7 o'clock Saturday morning." A double wedding ceremony was performed in St.Joseph's Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, last Saturday morning at 7 o'clock, when Miss Regina Humerick became the bride of Paul Keepers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Keepers, near Emmitsburg, and Miss Ida Brawner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Brawner, near Emmitsburg, became the bride of Paul Humerick at a nuptial mass celebrated by the Rev. William J. Groeninger, rector. Mr. Humerick and Miss Humerick are the son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Humerick, of Emmitsburg. Both brides were attired in white crepe bridal gowns and veils and wore accessories to match. No flowers were carried. Each couple were the attendants for the other. The nuptials were followed by a wedding breakfast at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Humerick. About thirty members of the immediate families were present. Mr. Humerick and both brides are employed at St. Joseph's College. Mr. Keepers is an employee of a filling station near Emmitsburg." She was born December 18, 1912, in Frederick County, the daughter of Mrs. Alice Adlesberger Brawner and the late William Brawner. She was the wife of Paul E. Humerick. Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by one son, Paul Joseph Humerick, Emmitsburg; one granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Humerick; four sisters, Mrs. Isabel Swazey, Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. William Miller, Emmitsburg, Mrs. Helen Warren, Fairfield, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Mary Rohrbaugh, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Roy Brawner, Dayton, Ohio, and Richard Brawner, Baltimore. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Emmitsburg. Friends may call Thursday at the Wilson Funeral Home, Emmitsburg. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Requiem mass will be held Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. Rev. Father John King will officiate. Interment will be made in New St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church." Interment was in the new St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray, Jay A. and Ross Rohrbaugh, Robert Brawner Jr. and Sr. and William Brawner."
