MACLEOD, Juno 20.—"If I die you may have the cat. Tell mother I want to be buried by the Salvation Army"; these were among the last words spoken by Miss Ida Hogg, who died Sunday morning as a result of what appears to be suicide by poisoning. She gave this message to a little girl of the Hogg home at the home, as the two sat on the lawn. Miss Hogg later entered the house, laid down on a bed and in ten minutes was dead. Following the coroner's inquest Monday, the contents of the dead girl's stomach have been sent to Edmonton for analysis at the government laboratory. According to the evidence adduced at the Inquest presided over by Coriner A. P, Gradyi Miss Hogg attended a picnic party Saturday afternoon and evening. She did not return to the family residence until two o'clock Sunday morning. She arose as usual Sunday morning and did the household duties, preparing breakfast for her foster mother. Around 11 o'clock, her mother asked her if she was going to church, to which she answered in the negative, explaining that she was sick. Questioned further by the child living at the Hogg home, the dead girl said she had a headache and wanted the child to run away and play. The child testified that Ida had a cup which, she wanted to conceal. Later, said the child, Ida went out and sat down on the grass. Then she laid down, saying she felt "miserable." The cup was lying on the grass beside her. Then it was that Miss Hogg told the child that she could have the cat in the event of her death, and that she wanted the Salvation Army to bury her. She re-entered the house, laid down on a bed and told Mrs. Hogg she was afraid she was going to die. Ten minutes later she succumbed. On Monday an Inquest was held and the contents of the stomach, as stated, forwarded to Edmonton. Lethbridge Herald June 19, 1922 MACLEOD, June 19.—A sudden death occurred at the home of. Mrs. J. Hogg, 24th Street East, on Sunday morning at 11.30 a.m. Mrs. Hogg's adopted daughter Ida, aged 19 years, arose at the usual hour, and attended to the household duties. About 11 a.m. Mrs. Hogg asked her if she was going to church. She said she did not feel well and lay down on her bed. Dr. Kirk was called, but on arrival found her dead.
