She had been ill for about four months and she was confined to her bed or chair all the time. Ida Jane Hayes, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Hayes, was born in Madison, Dane county, Wisconsin, Oct. 5th, 1869 and passed away at her home west of Boone Sept. 20th, 1914. She was united in marriage to Herbert McIntosh at Scotland, South Dakota, July 5, 1886. To this union was born four children, Orvis of Spirit Lake, Lottie, Kenneth and Chester, who passed away October 28th, 1893, at the age of 4 years, 2 months and 28 days. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, two sons, one daughter, her father and mother, a brother Eben Hayes, of Parkston, S.D., and a sister, Mrs. Sherman Cline, of West Boone, besides a host of friends. During her long sickness Mrs. McIntosh was cheered beyond words by the attentions and administrations of her friends and relatives. Day and night friends watched by her bedside, aiding the family in their care of the sick one. She was conscious most of the time, and just before the angel of death called she rallied and named each of those in the room with her. About two o’clock she asked the time and when told she said, “Joy cometh in the morning,” and at four relief came to the patient one as she silently passed on to meet her God. The funeral services were conducted at 2 o’clock by Rev. Golden from the Marion street church with burial in Linwood Park cemetery, east. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The songs were rendered by Mrs. James Nutt and Mrs. E. Parks with Mrs. Davis at the organ. The songs were “Some Glad, Sweet Day,” “O! Morning Land” and “Joy Cometh in the Morning.” The pall bearers were Chas. Johnston, John Buckley, Elroy Snedekor, Tom Wilson, Pete Sprager and Lafe Mosher. - info sent from kccurell.
