Description	:	obituary: Ida Jannetta O'Dell, sixth child of Elmer and Martha Damewood O'Dell, was born March 20, 1904 in Mason Township, Taylor County, Iowa. She attended the local rural school and grew to womanhood on the family farm along with her five brothers, one sister and her double cousin. She began her career as a health care worker at the Glenwood State School where she met Ora Morris. They were married January 31, 1949 at Des Moines, Iowa. They eventually established their home in Bedford where they owned and operated a nursing home. "Morris" died in May 1954 and Ida sold her nursing home a few years later. She continued her work as a licensed practical nurse until retiring in 1964. In later years, she continued to care for her brother, Vern, until his death in 1976. She, along with her beloved sister, Alta, has been a resident of Bedford Manor for over a year. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Russell, Al, Vern and Ralph and her nephew, Don O'Dell. She is survived by her sister, Alta Parsons of Bedford Manor; her brother, Delbert O'Dell of Council Bluffs; nephews Gerald of Lebanon, Mo., Bill of Bedford, and Allen of Malvern; her niece, Dolores Allen of Daytona Beach, Fla; her double cousin, Ruth Scalf of New Market; other relatives and friends. Her family keenly feels that a part of their lives is gone for this day, but faith sustains and with thankful hearts remember Ecclesiastics 3:14 -- "I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it, for God has so worked that men should fear Him." Funeral services for Ida Janetta Morris were held Friday, July 16, 1993 at Novinger-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev Steve Peters officiating. Burial was at Memory Cemetery, New Market. Iowa.
