Kauffman, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Miss Ida, to Harry Lohr. The hour of the wedding was four o'clock. The home was beautifully decorated in smilax, roses and carnations. At the appointed hour the bride and groom descended the stairs to the strains of a wedding march played by the groom's sister, Mrs. E.M. Taylor, and found places under an arch of smilax and roses, which formed the marriage altar. The bride was gowned in white organdie and carried white roses. They were attended by Miss Gusta Kauffman, sister of the bride, and Will Dawson. Rev. Meissler, pastor of the German Lutheran church, performed the ceremony, which was witnessed by relatives and a few intimate friends. The only out of town guest was Miss Minnie Biaer of Weeping Water. After the wedding a six course dinner was served, after which the happy couple departed for Portland, Oregon, where they will visit for three weeks. The bride is well known, having taught in the public schools of this city for the past three years, and by her kind and gentle manner has won many friends. The groom is also well known and has lived here the greater part of his life with the exception of the past few months, which has been spent in Grand Island, where he is employed by the railroad. The bride and groom have many friends, who will join the Journal in extending to them the heartiest congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Lohr will reside in Grand Island. -------------------------- The Columbus Telegram, February 25, 1974 LOHR - Mrs. Ida Lohr, 92, Columbus, died Saturday at Morys Haven. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. B.F. Meschke, and burial will be in Columbus Cemetery. The body lies in state today and Tuesday morning at the Gass-Haney Funeral Chapel. The daughter of John E. and Augusta Gradoske Kaufmann, she was born May 6, 1881 in Seward County. She was graduated from __pton High School and State Normal School at Peru with a degree in teaching. She taught in Seward and Platte County schools, then in the Columbus schools prior to her marriage to Harry H. Lohr June 24, 1908, in Columbus. Mr. Lohr, a railroad conductor for Union Pacific, served as mayor here for nine years. Mrs. Lohr was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Immanual [sic] Sewing Circle. She was affiliated with Columbus Country Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Republican Women's Club, Izaak Walton Auxiliary and several social clubs. Surviving are one son, Elmer H. Lohr of Columbus; four grandsons and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, on Aug. 21, 1947; one son, Harry K. Lohr on Aug. 14, 1971; parents; five brothers, William, Henry, John Theodore, Edward and Herman; and three sisters, Louise Kaufmann, Mrs. Augusta Fontein and Mrs. Sophia Gass.
