He was married to Ida May Miller on May 20, 1905, the daughter of John and Artonsa Miller, who came to Defiance around 1880. May was born on June 26, 1893 at Defiance and her brothers and sisters were H. Lee Miller, Lydia Penniston, Hattie Densmore, and Ethel Johnson. Dr. Baer, after his father's death, assisted his mother with the farming and taught in the country schools. He graduated from Medical School at Iowa University in 1903... Read More	1882~1982 Defiance (Iowa) Century Review DR. THOMAS H. BAER Dr. Thomas H. Baer was born on August 8, 1874 near Bloomfield, Iowa. He was married to Ida May Miller on May 20, 1905, the daughter of John and Artonsa Miller, who came to Defiance around 1880. May was born on June 26, 1893 at Defiance and her brothers and sisters were H. Lee Miller, Lydia Penniston, Hattie Densmore, and Ethel Johnson. Dr. Baer, after his father's death, assisted his mother with the farming and taught in the country schools. He graduated from Medical School at Iowa University in 1903 and was associated with Dr. Bisgard of Harlan before he practiced in Defiance. In the spring of 1910 he went to Aberdeen, South Dakota and drew an allotment for a homestead on the Indian Reservation at Timber Lake, South Dakota. He went to Timber Lake accompanied by George Davis, a carpenter, who built the house on the homestead. Mrs. Baer and daughter, Marjorie, accompanied by Ethel Johnson, moved to Timber Lake in August of 1910. Dr. Baer was engaged in general medical practice until his death in August 1938. Mrs. Baer died in September 1961 and both are buried in the Defiance cemetery. Their daughter, Marjorie, was born at Defiance on June 25, 1908 and married Gunner T. Anderson, an Indian Service employee. They lived in South Dakota, Arizona, Nevada, and Idaho. He died April, 1961 at Rapid City, South Dakota. Marjorie was later married to Herbert Rawstron of San Bernardino, California and after his death in 1977, she moved to Carroll, Iowa in 1978. - - - - - - - Wife of Thomas H.
