Description	:	Ida May Newkirk was the daughter of Almaytron and Maria Newkirk. She was born near Brooklyn and was educated in the schools near her home. She was married to Louis A Francis on December 23, 1886. To this union was born one daughter; Ada Belle, who passed away at the age of 16. They went to Coon Rapids where they made their home for nine years. Read More	Ida May Newkirk was the daughter of Almaytron and Maria Newkirk. She was born near Brooklyn and was educated in the schools near her home. She was married to Louis A Francis on December 23, 1886. To this union was born one daughter; Ada Belle, who passed away at the age of 16. They went to Coon Rapids where they made their home for nine years. Returning to Poweshiek County where Mr Francis was engaged in farming near Brooklyn for several years, then spent two years in California. Upon their return to Poweshiek County they bought the farm where they have since resided, with the exception of several years when they lived in Brooklyn. She was ever a good kind neighbor and a loyal friend. She was a loving wife and she and her husband enjoyed 54 years of life together. Ida was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church and a faithful worker therein. Also a member of the Eastern Star. She was always public spirted and interested in everything for the betterment of the community.
