Berthold Tribune: "Mother" Straley, one of the most dearly beloved women of the Des Lacs community, died Saturday, the 15th inst., after an illness of only eleven days. The funeral services were held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon, Rev. Frisbie officiating, and were attended by a concourse of sorrowing friends who fully realize the passing of a true Christian woman, and who sympathize deeply with the children in the loss of a kind and devoted mother. Berthold Tribune: "Mother" Straley, one of the most dearly beloved women of the Des Lacs community, died Saturday, the 15th inst., after an illness of only eleven days. The funeral services were held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon, Rev. Frisbie officiating, and were attended by a concourse of sorrowing friends who fully realize the passing of a true Christian woman, and who sympathize deeply with the children in the loss of a kind and devoted mother. Ida S. Stubbins was born in Gentry county, Missouri, and was married to Elias W. Straley of Reedy, W. Va., on the 19th day of February, 1882. Mr. Straley died in Des Lacs on May 1, 1910. To this happy union ten children were born, two of which died in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. Frank Chappell, Lonetree, N.D. Mrs. J. Hulett, of Washington, Mrs. W. Taylor, Saskatchewan, Can. Lillie of Des Lacs Galen, lately returned from Camp Funston Meredith of Fargo Glen of Minot, and Frank of Des Lacs. Mrs. Straley was converted in 1878, and since has lived a true christian life. She seemed tireless in her efforts to bring others to her savior and worked hard to increase the membership of the church of her choice. She taught the infant class in Sunday school and was vice-president of the Ladies Aid. The entire, community, as well as the family and church, loses an esteemed member in the death of Mrs. Straley.
