Jay Spoonheim officiated. Music was provided by organist, Sarah Bauer and soloist, Jay Seibel. Pallbearers were Dean Kessler, Chris Johnson, Kerry Kessler, Justin Kessler, Jason Kessler, and Layton Kessler. Honorary pallbearers were Ida's grandchildren. Interment was at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Stanton, ND. Ida was born August 8, 1909 at Krem, a daughter of Gottlieb and Marie (Weisz) Birkholz. She was raised and educated in Elgin. In about 1923, the family moved to Hazen and in 1936, returned to Elgin. On February 22, 1938, Ida married Rudolf Kessler at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Stanton. They farmed five and one-half miles northwest of Stanton until Rudolf died October 16, 1984. In 1985, Ida moved to Patterson Place in Bismarck. She became a resident of Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck in May 1995. Ida was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Stanton. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and gardening. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and Clayton Johnson of Mora, MN; five sons and two daughter-in-laws, Ray and Bev of Stanton, Don of Minneapolis, MN, Lloyd and Jean of Center, Jim of Miles City, MT and Bob of Bismarck; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Klein and Louise Schefflemaier, both of Elgin. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband - Rudolf, one sister, two brothers and two infant grandchildren. ==============================
