Description	:	The Mathews Journal, Thurs, 22 Dec 1927, p4, c1 Mrs. Ida Virginia Sterling died at her home, 1937 West Franklin street, Baltimore, Md., Thursday, December 15th. The remains were brought to Mathews Friday and taken to the home of her brother, Mr. John B, Grimstead, on Gwynns Lsland. Funeral services were held Saunday at 2:30 p.m., at The Island Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. John B. Hopkins, her Baltimore pastor, and Rev. Williams, of the Island. Interment was made in the Island Cemetery. Mrs. Sterling was 74 years of age and was a resident of Gwynn's Island for forty years before moving to Baltimore. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Noah T. Sterling, three daughters, Mrs. Annie League, of Baltimore; Mrs. Celestine Powell, of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Macie Priddy, of Chicago; four sons, George W., of Muskogee, Okla.; Percy B. and William, of Tulsa, Okla., and Leonard S. Sterling, of Hagerstown, Md. and three brothers, Wm. J. Grimstead, of (illegible); John B. and Herbert F. Grimstead, of Grimstead. Mrs. Sterling was widely known as a woman of the highest type. She was a consistent Christian, a loyal church and community worker. She was a friend to the sick and needy and spent most of her life ministering to the needs of others. Especially valuable was her work in the slum missions of Baltimore.
