Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with the Rev. James McCormick presiding. Lector will be B.P. Daley. Gift bearers will be Christina and Jennifer Danico. Eucharistic minister will be Marian Koster. Casket bearers will be John Danico, Kevin Morrison, Jeff Boes, Robert Greteman, Denis Tigges and Paul Dieter. Maurice Dunn American Legion Post No. 7 of Carroll will have an honor guard. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Carroll. Visitation starts at 2:30 p.m., a rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a vigil will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. Visitation will resume at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the church. A son of Ottavio and Guilia (Salani) Pollastrini, he was born Oct. 6, 1923, at Clinton. The family returned to Collodi, Italy, when he was 8 and returned to Carroll in 1937. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1943. Mr. Pollastrini served as an Army sergeant in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He and Mary Patricia "Pat" Daley were married April 10, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Carroll with Monsignor P.T. Lynch officiating. Mr. Pollastrini worked with in family business, Pokey Candy Kitchen, from 1937 until 1972 then worked for Fareway Stores until retirement. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and was a past commander and 60-year member of the Carroll American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Pat, of Carroll; two daughters: Nancy Danico and husband John of Davenport and Barbara Parson and husband Dr. Craig of Berthoud, Colo.; two granddaughters; a great granddaughter; a brother, Ray Pollastrini, and his wife, Betty, of Carroll; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Willet and her husband, Earl, of Lakewood, Colo,; and a brother-in-law, B.P. Dailey, of Dayton, Wyo. Mr. Pollastrini was preceded in death by his parents.
